I have decided

Following Jesus is the most amazing thing you can do. If you've recently made the decision to follow Him or if you are thinking about it, you may have a few questions.

Why follow Jesus?

We are all born with a sin nature. Because of our sin, we are unable to have a relationship with God without forgiveness. It says in the Bible 'For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.' Romans 3:23

We can’t earn God’s forgiveness and we can't be good enough to receive it. Jesus gave His life as a sacrifice so that we could be forgiven. 'But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.' Romans 5:8

How can I become a Jesus follower?

First thing to do is to ask Jesus into your life. 'If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.' Romans 10:9

Second thing to do is repent. 'Repent and believe the good news!' Mark 1:15. This means to say sorry to God for living in ways that weren't in line with His will. Repentance is also about living a different life.

What can I do live as a Jesus follower?

Being a follower of Jesus is a journey. It's a journey of getting to know Jesus and his purpose for our lives. It's about building a personal relationship with Jesus.

Prayer

The first thing we can do to live as a follower of Jesus is to pray. Prayer simply is talking to God, and there’s nothing more powerful than asking for God’s help. The Bible says, 'Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.' Philippians 4:6

Prayer isn’t a one-way street – Jesus wants to talk to us, too. Take time to learn His voice and listen to His direction for you. When you start it can be tricky, but keep persevering and you will get there.  As Jesus said: 'My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.' John 10:27

Start your prayers by saying thank you to Jesus for all the things He has done for you. Spend time saying sorry for the the times you've messed up. Then bring the things that matter most to you to Him asking for His help. Finally, spend a few minutes in quite listening for Him.

Bible

As Christian's we believe the Bible is God main way of speaking to us and directing us in how to live and build a relationship with Him.
